About

Welcome to my 2005 Blogathon - a project hoping to raise money for victims of the devastating Boxing Day Tsunami.

My name is Darren Rowse (background information on me here) and on 20 January 2005 I will be blogging here on this blog for 24 hours straight. It is my goal to post 100 posts over the day totally just over 1 post every 15 minutes for the duration of the day.

In 2004 I did a similar blog-a-thon to raise money for a worthy cause in the Philippines. After the 24 hours and 112 posts we ended up raising $540 ($US). I’d like to see this figure increase this year as the cause is urgent.

This year any money raised through donations or advertising/sponsorship (on any of my sites) during the 24 hours will be donated to victims of the Tsunami via a great organization that I have been watching now for a year or two by the name of the Oak tree Foundation’s Tsunami Appeal.

I’ll post more information on Oak Tree as we get closer to the day of the blogathon but they are an innovative movement of young Australians who are seeking to empower and equip children and youth in the developing world.

The story of the Oak Tree foundation was started by an inspirational young man by the name of Hugh Evans who has been recognized for his work with Oak Tree by being named in 2004 as ‘Young Australian of the Year‘ and was also named ‘Young Person of the World’ by Junior Chamber International.

Hugh has been in the areas impacted by the Tsunami over the past 10 days and returns to Melbourne today.

I highly commend Oak Tree Foundation to you and know that the money donated through this project will make a real difference in the lives of Children in the areas affected by the Tsunami.
