Name Your Band Something Googlable
Darren (yes another potential member of the online Darren Society) wrote a good post this last week titled Name Your Band Something Googlable. Common sense post out of his experience with a band called ‘Stars’ who have made it pretty difficult for their fans to find them on google with such a common noun as the name of their band.
It is actually a good lesson not only for bands but I suspect other times when you choose a name also - even when it comes down to choosing your new blog’s name.
Reminds me of a high school band of one of my friends. They called themselves ‘Labrador Soup’. I suspect if the band was still together today that they’d be pretty easy to find on Google.
Update: In fact i did a search on Google for Labrodor Soup and guess what - I found my old classmate who mentions Labrador Soup on his bio (see Trunk McEight at the bottom of the page)! Guess it proves the point! It is easier to find a band that hasn’t existed for 17 years than it is to find a current one called ‘Stars’.
