Who is Behind this Blogathon?
My name is Darren Rowse. I have been blogging for two years now and am passionate about using it as a medium for social change.
My original and personal blog is LivingRoom where I first fell in love with the medium by blogging about my life, my faith community (LivingRoom) and about blogging itself.
Last January I held a blogathon like this one at the LivingRoom site and managed to raise $540 (US) for a great project helping those living in the slums in the Philippines to find ways of starting businesses that help break the poverty cycle. It was a really worth while time and I’ve looked forward ever since to giving it another go.
I like millions of others around the world have been impacted by the pictures and stories that have flooded our TVs over the past few weeks from South East Asia in the wake of the Tsunami and almost immediately felt stirred to ask ‘what could I do?’ The answer was pretty obvious to me - mobilize my blogging in a direction that could make a difference - hence this site.
Out side of my little blogging business (I write 16 blogs at the moment on a commercial basis) I am the minister of a small alternative Christian community (some would call us a church) in the inner suburbs of Melbourne called the LivingRoom.
