As if the Heisman hype wasn’t enough, the accolades keep rolling in for Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon. And tailback Jonathan Stewart is getting some love, too. Dixon was named as one of 15 finalists for the 2007 Walter Camp Player of the Year award. He has passed for 2,074 yards and 20 touchdowns with only three interceptions. He has also run for 549 yards and eight scores. Stewart, meanwhile, is among 10 semifinalists for the Doak Walker Award as the nation’s top running back. That, however, is exactly what Chevrolet did at the preview of its latest Malibu. There were five Malibus (three base four cylinder models, a hybrid and one range topping V 6) up against five Toyota Camrys (three fours and two V 6s). The object of the exercise? To prove that anything Toyota can do, Chevy can do better. This sort of chest beating is not unheard of, but in many cases, the competition is parked off to the side and away from the spotlight.
