Britney Spears topped Yahoo’s annual list of the most-searched for names on the Internet. She was beaten last year by prime-time singing contest “American Idol,” but topped the list the two years before that.

In second place was 50 Cent, followed by Cartoon Network, Mariah Carey,Green Day, Jessica Simpson, TV star Paris Hilton, Eminem, Ciara and Lindsay Lohan.

After spending her birthday week apart, Britney Spears and her husband, Kevin Federline, patched things up again. But if Britney had heard the shocking statements coming out of Kevin’s mouth just six days before they reconciled, their latest split might have lasted forever.

Partying with pals in Las Vegas during the week of Britney’s 24th birthday, Kevin told a reporter that he has already consulted his lawyers and would demand a “$125 millionâ€? settlement if the marriage was to end. “I don’t like lawyers,â€? the aspiring rapper said as he was leaving the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on December 3. “But in this situation, I have to get protection.” Kevin’s even told friends that he’s been advised that the prenuptial agreement he signed is “not worth the paper it is written on.â€?

Britney’s hiring the people behind Madonna’s popular new album “Confessions on a Dancefloor” to help her with her new album: Bloodshy, Avant and Peer Anstrom.

“After hearing Confessions Britney immediately decided she wanted to return to the pop sound that made her a huge star in the beginning. She’s done the R&B thing and rock chick thing, but her first love has always been pop” says a close source.

Some of Britney’s fans are erm, encouraging her to divorce her husband, Kevin Federline. A website has even been set up, divorcekevin.com which has a petition and you can leave comments. Already thousands of people have added their name to the petition! Are they going over the top? What do you think about the idea? It reminds me of the anti-TomKat fansites and petitions to save Katie Holmes from Tom Cruise.

This disc is a sultry club romp that will keep Britney’s fans satisfied until her new album, tentatively titled The Original Doll, supposedly hits stores in 2006. Fans of dance music will also get their money’s worth with 11 mixes from top DJs like Jacques Lu Cont and Hex Hector.

Most of the remixes are from In The Zone. Because it’s Britney’s most “grown up” CD, the songs are sensual and seductive, making for good vocals to remix.

The strongest mix on the CD is Bill Hamel’s version of “Touch of my Hand.” Britney’s smooth, low voice offset by flying ethereal techno chords creates a sexy melody that invades the listener’s senses. Turn this one up.

Can’t wait till it arrives in stores here in New Zealand!

Britney Spears is said to be in discussion over a role in the Broadway show “Sweet Charity” to take over Christina Applegate when she finishes at the start of next year. Will she want to start working full time now that she’s a mom though?

It seems that the Jessica and Nick rumours of divorce are spreading to Brit and Kev already. *sigh* Isn’t marriage for life, or has everyone forgotten the “for better or worse” or “till death do us part” lines? Hmm…

Anyways, apparently a close friend of Britney’s told Australia’s NW Mgazine:

“Britney’s already seen the divorce lawyer. As it stands, the divorce papers are written up and all she has to do is give the word and they’ll be filed in the courthouse. She doesn’t want to divorce Kevin, but if that’s the best thing for her child and for her own sanity, that’s exactly what she’ll do.”

Kevin Federline’s music debut is now out on the net, it’s a hip-hop/rap song called “Y’all Ain’t Ready” and his album, “The Truth” will be out soon too.

According to a report in In Touch Weekly magazine, an insider said, “She said his debut CD might sell ‘a hundred, maybe a thousand’ copies if he was lucky… Kevin looked really hurt.”
