In the event that was missing Ian Thorpe, the Australian men again failed to make the medals with the 3 guys only making 5, 6 and 7. England’s Simon Burnett took the gold while South Africa took Silver and Bronze thanks to Ryk Neethling and Roland Schoeman.

Gregor Tait has broken the Commonwealth Games record to claim the Gold Medal in the Men’s 200m Backstroke. Johannes Du Rand won another Silver Medal in the pool with New Zealander Cameron Gibson winning the bronze medal.
