New Zealand Win Gold in Women’s Shot Put

Valerie Vili from New Zealand has smashed the Commonwealth Games record to win the Gold medal with a distance of 19.66m. Silver medal winner was Vivien Chukwuemeka from Nigeria and the bronze went to Cleopatra Borel-Brown from Trinidad and Tobago.

Lynsey Armitage and Karen Murphy of Australia have beaten Joyce Lindores and Kay Moran of Scotland to take the Gold medal in the Women’s Pairs Lawn Bowls. Sisters Jan and Marina Khan of New Zealand have won the Bronze medal.

Sheena Sharp has won the Gold medal for Scotland in the Women’s 50m Rifle Prone. New Zealand’s Juliet Etherington has gone one better than her Bronze in Manchester to take silver and Johanne Brekke from Wales has won the bronze medal.

Australia go 1, 2 in Men’s Road Individual Time Trial

Nathan O’Neill has won the Gold medal for Australia in the Men’s Road Individual Time Trial with fellow Team Mate Ben Day taking the silver. The bronze medal went to Gordon McCauley of New Zealand who was lucky to make the games after being knocked off his bike on New Years eve.

Vijay Kumar and Pemba Tamang have won the Gold Medal for India in the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Pairs. David Chapman and Bruce Flavell from Australia finished in second place with Metodi Igorov and Yuri Movshovich from Canada finishing in third place.

Having never won a Triathlon medal before, Australia has picked up a double Gold after the Women’s event win this morning. Brad Kahlefeldt took control of the race to take the gold with Olympic Silver medalist Bevan Docherty of New Zealand taking the silver and Peter Robertson of Australia taking the Bronze.

Australia Own the Track

Australia have cleaned up on the Cycling Track tonight with the latest medal coming in the form of Gold in the Men’s Points Race won by Sean Finning. Silver was claimed by Hayden Roulston of New Zealand while the Bronze went to Geraint Thomas of Wales.
