The XVIII Commonwealth Games in Melbourne have become the Best Attended Games in history now that ticket sales have topped 1.5million seats sold despite the concern of low spectator numbers at some of the low-profile events.
In comparison, Melbourne 2006 has sold more tickets than the Turin Winter Olympics. Manchester 2002 sold around 900,000 tickets.

The substances found in the rooms used by the Australian Weightlifting have tested negative but the Australian Sports Anti Doping Authority will hold an inquiry into the allegations. Meanwhile, the Australian Weightlifting chief has said they will demand an apology if no banned substances are found.

One of the officials from the Sierra Leone team has been admitted to hospital with a case of malaria. According to SMH, ambulance staff were called to the Games village at 6:55pm last night where a 39 year old man was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital.
