Canada Win Gold in Men’s 200m Breaststroke
Canada’s Michael Brown has won the Gold medal in the Men’s 200m Breaststroke with Australian’s Brenton Rickard and Jim Piper taking the Silver and Bronze Medals positions.

Australia’s Leisel Jones has won the Gold medal in a World Record time of 1:05.09 in the Women’s 100m Breaststroke. Fellow team mate Jade Edmistone has claimed the silver and Kirsty Balfour from Scotland has won the bronze.
Christopher Cook has won the Gold medal in the Men’s 50m Breaststroke final for England while team mate Darren Mew has won the silver medal. Brenton Rickard has won the bronze medal for Australia.

Leisel Jones, Jade Edmistone and Tarnee White have continued the Australians run in the pool tonight completing the Gold, Silver and Bronze haul in the Women’s 50m Breaststroke.
Matthew Clay from England has won the Gold Medal in the Men’s 50m Backstroke with team mate Liam Tancock taking the Silver. South African Johannes Zandberg finished in third place for the Bronze Medal.
Australian swimmer Jim Piper believes he can break his own Commonwealth record in the 200 metres breast stroke at the Games.
Piper took almost two-10ths of a second off the old mark at the Commonwealth Games trials last week.
Jones became the first woman under 66 seconds as she lowered American Jessica Hardy’s world mark by almost half a second in a time of one minute 5.71 seconds.
She now owns four of the five fastest times in the 100m and is the fastest in the 200m by almost two seconds.
Having narrowly missed out on going to Athens, Sarah Katsoulis is vying for her place in the 2006 Australian Commonwealth Games team. Her events, the 50m backstroke and the 100m and 200m breaststroke will see her face off against the likes of Leisel Jones and Brooke Hanson.
Twenty One year old Stuart Manford will fly out for a six week training camp on the Gold Coast at the end of the month before heading to Melbourne to compete at the Commonwealth Games in the 50m Breastroke.
The Welsh swimmer is deperately seeking sponsorship to help him continue on with his swimming.
