The youngest athlete in the field of the Men’s Marathon, Samson Ramadhani Nyonyi has won the Gold medal for Tanzania. Kenyan Fred Mogaka Tumbo has won the silver medal while England’s Daniel Robinson finished third for the bronze medal.
In an incredibly exciting finish which came down to a sprint finish, Australian Kerryn McCann has won the Gold medal over a vigilant effort from Hellen Cherono Koskei of Kenya. Elizabeth Yelling from England finished third winning the bronze.
New Zealand has added another member to their team after five time San Antonio Marathon of the Americas winner Liza Hunter-Galvan finished third in the Dallas White Rock Marathon. The 36 year old mother of four ran in a career best time of 2:33:51, well below the 2:37:00 qualifying time for the games.
