Australia wins Gold in Men’s 400m
John Steffensen has won another Gold Medal for Australia in the Men’s 400m track and field event. Grenada’s Alleyne Francique won the silver medal and Jamaica’s Jermaine Gonzales won the bronze.

Iwan Thomas took one more step towards retirement when he withdrew from the Wales team for next week’s Commonwealth Games. The 32-year-old, who was to have run in the 400 metres and 4×400m relay is said to have a hamstring injury.

World Championship 400 metres finalist Tim Benjamin has withdrawn from the Commonwealth Games because of injury.
The 23-year-old, who came fifth at the World Championships in Helsinki last year, would have been a potential medallist at the Games in Melbourne but a groin injury has ruled him out.
