Australia go 1, 2 in Men’s Road Individual Time Trial

Nathan O’Neill has won the Gold medal for Australia in the Men’s Road Individual Time Trial with fellow Team Mate Ben Day taking the silver. The bronze medal went to Gordon McCauley of New Zealand who was lucky to make the games after being knocked off his bike on New Years eve.

Australia’s Oenone Wood, Kathryn Watt and Sara Carrigan have won a clean sweep of the medals in the Women’s Road Individual Time Trial after New Zealand favourite Sarah Ulmer withdrew from the race.

Isle of Man has won the Gold in the Men’s Scratch race

Mark Cavendish has ended the Track Cycling with a win in the Men’s Scratch Race for the Isle of Man. Australia’s Ashley Hutchinson has won the silver with James McCallum from Scotland winning the bronze.

Australia win the Women’s Individual Pursuit

Katie Mactier has beaten fellow team mate Katherin Bates in the Women’s Individual Pursuit at the cycling velodrome. Emma Jones from England beat Alison Shanks from New Zealand to take the bronze medal.

England win Women’s Sprint, Aussie 2 and 3

World Champion Victoria Pendleton has won the Gold medal for England in the women’s sprint over the Olympic Champion Anna Meares. Kerrie Meares beat New Zealand’s Elisabeth Williams to claim the bronze for Australia as well.

Ryan Bayley wins Gold for Australia in Men’s Sprint

Australia has added a further cycling Gold to their tally as Ryan Bayley beat Scotland’s Ross Edgar in the final. Travis Smith from Canada beat Matthew Crampton for the bronze medal.

England win Gold in the 4000m Team Pursuit

England have won the Gold medal in the 4000m Team Pursuit over Australia who take the Silver. New Zealand won the Bronze medal at the 3000m mark after catching the Malaysian cyclists.

Australia Own the Track

Australia have cleaned up on the Cycling Track tonight with the latest medal coming in the form of Gold in the Men’s Points Race won by Sean Finning. Silver was claimed by Hayden Roulston of New Zealand while the Bronze went to Geraint Thomas of Wales.

Cooke suffers Games injury scare

Commonwealth cycling champion Nicole Cooke has suffered another setback in the build-up to defending her crown in Melbourne.
The 22 year old crashed in a World Cup race in New Zealand and was lucky to escape with just cuts and bruising.
