England Beat New Zealand in the Men’s Hockey

England has beaten New Zealand 4-3 in their Commonwealth Games preliminary pool match. Blair Hopping, Bevan Hari and Hayden Shaw all scored a goal each for New Zealand while Richard Alexander, Matthew Daly, Barry Middleton and Simon Mantell each scored for England.

Malaysia and Canada win opening match

Both Malaysia and Canada have beaten their opponents 4-0 in today’s hockey matches meaning Nigeria and Barbados have a lot of work to do if they want to finish in the top two of their group now that their points difference has taken a hammering.

Donna-Lee Patrick out of Hockeyroos

Donna-Lee Patrick’s troublesome knee will see her watching the Commonwealth Games rather than participating in them now that she has been sent for surgery.
