Commonwealth Games get their own police station
There will be an increase in police and military activity in Melbourne over the next few weeks in preparation for the Commonwealth Games.
Police Chief Commissioner Christine Nixon today opened a temporary police station inside the athlete’s village at Parkville. At different times 109 officers will work at the station as they police the 20-hectare site.
She says there will be more helicopters and planes over the city and people should not be alarmed.
