Dame Kiri to Star at Games
New Zealand opera singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa will be one of the leading performers at the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in March. Singing to an audience of 80,000 live at the MCG and millions world wide is nothing new to Dame Kiri who sang to a global audience of 600 million at the wedding on Prince Charles and Lady Diana in 1981.
Another act expected to perform is Australian rock band The Church.
A cast of 5000 performers have begun rehearsing at an undisclosed venue in Melbourne. From next week they will meet up to four times a week to ensure they are well and truly ready for the Opening Ceremony on the 15th of March.
