Record for Shalders in tune-up for Games
TRIPLE JUMPER Steve Shalders improved the Welsh record to 16.39m at the UK Athletics Indoor City Challenge final at Sheffield yesterday.
The outstanding performance came on a day when Shalders proved he is looking fit for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne after a five-month battle with a heel injury.
Gareth Warburton, also heading to Melbourne, won the 400m in his season’s best time of 47.31 secs.
