Security lockdown for Games village
SECURITY officials have locked down Melbourne’s recently completed Commonwealth Games village ahead of the arrival of its 6000 resident athletes and officials next month.
Victoria Police began security sweeps of the purpose built 27ha site in Parkville with the aid of the Australian Defence Force on the 9th of February and will maintain a stringent security detail between now and the end of the Games.
