Shirvington still hoping to qualify
Australian sprinter Matt Shirvington is still hoping to qualify for the 100m and compete at the Commonwealth Games in March despite having taken a five month break from athletics.
Shirvington clocked 10.43 seconds and 10.28 (wind assisted) at a recent meet in Canberra while he must ideally meet the ‘A’ standard for the Games at 10.21 seconds.
Patrick Johnson is the only Australian to record an A standard while Joshua Ross, Adam Miller and Adam Basil have all posted times under the B standard.
