Shuttlers hopes of defending Commonwealth title look bleak
Mohd Hafiz Hashim crashed out of the Swiss Open in the second round of competition on Friday in an unexpected match that saw the third seed Hafiz going down to former world champion Xia Xuanze of Chine 11-15, 13-15.
The loss was a big shock after his he won last years Malaysian Open 15-12, 15-0.
Only five men’s players are allowed to compete in Melbourne and Hafiz’s poor result may very well have cost him a place in the team.
