Teenage Sharleen Stratton upstages Olympian
BRISBANE teenager Sharleen Stratton last night upstaged diving veteran Irina Lashko, who then challenged Australian selectors to back her ability and pick her for the Commonwealth Games.
Lashko, a four-time Olympian, finished second to Stratton, 18, in the 1m springboard final at the Games trials, but the result may not be enough to qualify her for selection. Under Diving Australia’s selection criteria for the 1m springboard, only the first-placed Australian gains automatic selection.
