The first drug story of the games
It may very well amount to nothing but when suspicious substances are discovered in the rooms used by weightlifters then eyebrows will be raised. If it turns out that the substances are from the banned list then India wont be feeling so bad about the indecent assault charge made against one of their representatives because the weightlifters in question are from the host nation, Australia.
Apparently cleaners had found tablets, vials and injecting equipment on Tuesday. Again, if this is true then not only are they going to be embarrassed for being caught but they will forever known as the athletes who were stupid enough to leave the evidence just ‘lying around’.
Either case, it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
