Thorpe struggling to recapture devastating swimming form
Australian world beater Ian Thorpe was expected to pick up where he left off at last week’s Commonwealth Games trials in his first competitive swim since the 2004 Athens Olympics.
His devastating form winning 11 world titles, including six in 2001 in Japan where he set world records at 200m, 400m and 800m, along with a record-equalling 10 Commonwealth Games gold medals, nine Pan Pacific titles and 18 national titles in 1998 has continued over the last 8 years but his lack of form of late has some worried that he may not fire in time for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
