Diners Club-MasterCard venture’s pluses, minuses
‘Diners Club cards will soon add the MasterCard logo and be accepted at any establishment that accepts regular MasterCard. MasterCard will also stop adding a 1 percent fee to purchases billed in foreign currency — but you aren’t likely to see any decrease in your bill.
Several big credit card developments hit the news just days after I submitted my recent column on foreign exchange. And while my overall recommendations stay pretty much the same, you will see some differences in the months to come.
If you have a Diners Club card, you will soon receive a new card with a MasterCard logo by the traditional Diners Club mark — along with some new fine print. The new move has both pluses and minuses.’
