Depression Help Goes Hi- Tech
Australia is never going to have enough psychologists to effectively treat everyone with depression and harmful drug use so a researcher has developed a CD-ROM to help bear some of the load.
Studies suggest one in five Australians will experience depression at some time in their lives and about half of those will also develop a drug problem.
Many of them, particularly those in rural and remote areas, will never see a trained mental health worker.
Soon, getting treatment for depression will only be a computer’s walk away, but one has to wonder how genuine or helpful this new technology will be to actually helping to alleviate depression.
