New plan to tackle depression in bush
‘Young men living in the bush are the focus of a new campaign to reduce the soaring levels of depression and suicide across rural Australia.
As the drought continues through much of Australia, depression is becoming an increasing problem for rural communities.
On average, one in five Australians will experience depression at some time in their life and about one million adults live with depression each year.
In rural and regional areas the figures are the same, but there are more suicides in country areas, particularly among men, and there are fewer mental health services available.’
