IMlogic Spots Interactive Instant Messaging Worm » Telecommunications Industry News

‘Instant messaging security firm, IMlogic released a warning on Monday, regarding a new type of malicious IM bot that can pose as a human being, and send messages.
The threat, called IM.Myspace04.AIM infects a user’s computer, then starts sending messages to people on their AIM contacts list.’

Santa IM Worm Installs Rootkit Payload

‘A new Christmas-themed worm attack is underway, delivering an offensive rootkit payload over the AOL, MSN, Windows Messenger, ICQ and Yahoo instant messaging networks.

Google Backs IM Multimedia Standard

‘Google is helping to extend an open instant messaging protocol so that instant message applications based on it will have a standard method for multimedia communications.
Google is contributing to multimedia extensions to the open Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) that will enable XMPP-based instant messaging applications to conduct sessions involving voice and video.’
