Google plans to add video to messaging
‘GOOGLE appears to be moving into videoconferencing.
It is advertising for a senior engineer to develop a videoconferencing application to use on a global scale, according to a posting on HotJobs - a site hosted by rival Yahoo.
Search Engine Journal says there have been many rumours about videoconferencing being a big part of Google’s next move following its launch of its Google Talk messaging and net phone tool.
By adding videoconferencing to the mix, Google will bring a unique offering to instant messaging extend its competion with Microsoft.
The HotJobs posting says: “The successful candidate will be involved in the overall internal video technology and quality of our existing and future videoconference systems.”‘
