Jabber 4.2 Released
From Business Wire, I grabbed the release notes for the new Jabber client. Jabber today has released their new IM (Jabber IMA 4.2) as well as version 4.2 of Jabber XCP, their messaging/presence framework that connects with existing applications. The release comes out with a new developer kit (SDK) so others can go in and customize the clients in Java.
Jabber is very much focused on the enterprise market, providing a chat client that is extensible, as well as a range of functions available in the SDK.
New features on 4.2 includes a more simple server management tool and basic/pro admin control options. It also includes a new external component redirector to allow Jabber session and text to pass messages through an external component.
“The ECR is especially attractive to our customers who place a premium on compliance and/or security clearance,” said Michael Helfrich, senior vice president of product strategy and marketing for Jabber, Inc. “In some scenarios, the ECR is used to redact specific words or phrases from some recipients or to insert information — such as, hyperlinked stock symbols — that appears as part of a conversation’s natural flow.”
