JabberNow Instant Messaging Appliance Available in Australia
JabberNow Instant Messaging Appliance Available in Australia; Cleartext Partners with Jabber, Inc. to Deliver Secure Instant Messaging to Small and Medium Businesses and Workgroups in Australia
Cleartext Pty Ltd, a leading provider of secure email and instant messaging (IM) solutions, today announced the immediate availability of the JabberNow enterprise instant messaging (EIM) appliance for Australian customers. Designed for small and medium workforces, JabberNow offers out-of-the-box collaboration features like presence-based IM and text conferencing.
According to Government Computer News, the plug-and-play JabberNow appliance “is small, light and incredibly easy to set up (and) can handle most offices’ IM needs painlessly and securely.” Targeted to smaller workgroups who internally and often externally collaborate on time-sensitive, mission-critical information NetworkComputing calls JabberNow “about the easiest network installation chore I’ve ever had the pleasure of doing,” while VARBusiness gives JabberNow two thumbs up — its highest rating.
Based on Jabber, Inc.’s flagship Jabber Extensible Communications Platform (Jabber XCP), JabberNow complies with industry interoperability standards and federates (securely connects and authenticates) with the vast majority of IM and extended presence networks used by financial institutions, manufacturers, governments, and consumers. In its standard configuration, JabberNow is natively interoperable with any other Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) server and works seamlessly with any XMPP client, including mobile and value-added fixed (desktop) clients available through Cleartext. Available add-ons that Cleartext will be offering to the Australian market include the AIM(R) Gateway from Jabber, Inc. (for connectivity to the AOL(R) Instant Messenger(TM) (AIM(R)) network), SIP/SIMPLE gateway, SMS gateway, SDKs, message archiving, and LDAP integration, all of which enable JabberNow customers, through Cleartext, to utilize both sophisticated and simple real-time message systems inside and outside of their internal networks.
Cleartext Managing Director, David Banes, said, “We are very excited to provide a turnkey, secure, and interoperable IM solution to the Australian market. IM has become a key presence and messaging tool within organizations today, with many corporate users creating informal public IM networks or ‘graynets.’ These unsanctioned networks become a security and administrative nightmare for the organizations IT staff. Rather than try to eradicate an effective communication tool, Cleartext and JabberNow offer a secure, cost-effective solution to eliminate installation, management, and security concerns.”
To simplify EIM further, Cleartext offers centrally managed solutions for IM configuration, management, policy definition, message archiving, antivirus, spyware, anti-spIM, and public IM interoperability.
“We have chosen to partner with Cleartext because of their experience with presence-based messaging generally and the Jabber protocol specifically,” said Rick Emery, vice president of business development at Jabber, Inc. “Taken together, Cleartext and Jabber, Inc. will deliver the standard JabberNow product along with customized functionality, mobile and fixed clients, and extended presence services to the Australian market.”
