Viewpoint Corporation, a leading internet marketing technology company, today announced that it will license a custom version of its Viewpoint Media Player to Tencent Holdings Limited (SEHK: 700), a leading provider of internet value added services in the People’ Republic of China with over 170 million active users.

The deal marks Viewpoint’s first ever contract with a company based in mainland China. In connection with this agreement, Tencent has also contracted with Viewpoint’s Creative Services group for training, technical and content development support services. On the Internet platform, Tencent provides a number of successful communication- and content-based value-added services. In addition to Instant Messaging, Tencent also runs the largest online gaming platform and is the one of the most popular portal websites in China.

“Tencent chose Viewpoint because of its innovative technological capabilities and its deep and relevant experience in creating 3D and other rich media content for major web properties throughout the United States,” said Thomas Morgan, senior vice president of Creative Services for Viewpoint. “We are excited to be engaged with such a successful and forward-looking partner in the exploding consumer marketplace in China and we anticipate being able to do much more in the future with our new partners at Tencent.”

Recently, representatives from Viewpoint’s Creative Services team worked at Tencent headquarters in Shenzhen to help the company integrate Viewpoint’s technology and custom application solutions. The first deployment of applications powered by Viewpoint technology is expected to be launched in October, 2005.
