Messaging market on the rise
The global messaging market is growing at a great rate. And it’s the IMs that are going to get the revenue push. Mobile messaging growth is set to come from wireless instant messaging, not SMS. I can understand this. The handsets I’ve been seeing used by many of my friends can do just about anything. IM is not as difficult handset-wise as we once thought it would be.
The greatest growth in mobile messaging, however, will come from wireless instant messaging, which, driven by corporate users, is expected to increase revenues six-fold between 2007 and 2009. Multimedia Message Service (MMS), which delivers pictures, sound clips and video, is expected to show nearly 50% compound annual growth rate through 2009.
