Dukes of Hazzard Lawsuit Sorted - Yay!

Robert B. Clark’s claimed that Warners had infringed upon the copyright to his obscure 1975 United Artists film Moonrunners, upon which the television edition of The Dukes of Hazzard was based. In his lawsuit, Clark argued that Warner Bros. had purchased the TV rights to his script, but had neglected to put up the dough for the movie rights.

After U.S. District Judge Gary Allen Feess awarded Clark a preliminary injunction in the matter, Warner Bros. agreed to pay the producer a settlement of at least $17.5 million.

However, had no settlement been reached, Hazzard’s Aug. 5 release would have been canceled by the injunction and all copies of the movie would have been impounded by federal marshals. Furthermore, the film’s DVD release would have been pushed off indefinitely, and the $40 million the studio spent on theatrical marketing would have gone largely to waste.

In between are a collection of southern/blues rock songs, including Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble’s “Pride and Joy,” the James Gang’s “Funk #49,” Molly Hatchet’s “Flirtin’ With Disaster” and a live version of the Allman Brothers Band’s “One Way Out.”

Willie Nelson has recorded a new version of “Good Ol’ Boys,” the theme song for the “Dukes of Hazzard” TV show.

Simpson stars in “The Dukes of Hazzard” as Daisy Duke, cousin to Bo (Seann William Scott) and Luke (Johnny Knoxville). Burt Reynolds stars as Boss Hogg. The film opens Aug. 5 in the U.S.

Christians protest over Jessica’s video

Jessica Simpson’s video for ‘These Boots are Made for Walking’ featured on the new Dukes of Hazzard movie being released August 5th 2005 has the Christian group ‘The Resistance’ calling for a re-shoot.

In the steamy video Jessica Simpson dances like a stripper, grinding her butt on old men, and kisses Willie Nelson. At the end of the video she prances around in a bikini while washing the General Lee. “She should be ashamed of her self” says John Conner, spokesperson for ‘The Resistance’ and author of ‘The Resistance Manifesto.’

“It’s disappointing to have Jessica, a pastor’s daughter and Christian role model, join the ranks of the ’singing strippers’ such as Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera” explains Connor. “She has one of the most beautiful voices, and is a very beautiful girl, but it’s sad to see her whore her self out like this. What’s worse is that pastor, Joe Simpson is Jessica’s manager, as well as her father.

Short shorts are back - thanks to Jessica!

To the relief of men everywhere, short shorts are back. Probably thanks to the “Dukes of Hazzard” movie starring Jessica Simpson coming out this summer, “Daisy Dukes” are once again in style. This time, they aren’t the butt cheek-baring, cut-off blue jean kind she wore, but they come in pretty much every color. Short shorts look best when worn with a tunic-style top or a three-quarter-length shirt because too much skin is … well … too much.
