Star People magazine says Jennifer Aniston walked out of The Dukes of Hazzard after just half an hour because “it sucked”. Oh dear!!
On the other hand, the movie is doing well in theatres, with almost $70 million in box office sales after three weeks. The movie comes out here at the end of September so I can’t wait to see it for myself and decide if I like it.
Jessica’s sounds like she’ll be going to the UK premiere for Dukes of Hazzard next Monday, August 22nd in London, according to someone on sweetkisses.net. It’s being held at the Vue Cinema, Leicester Square. Jessica is expected to attend with Nick Lachey, Seann William Scott, Jonny Knoxville, Burt Reynolds and maybe her little sister Ashlee!
You looked like you had fun playing up the sex appeal of this character. Is there a line you won’t cross?
Oh, there’s a lot of lines I won’t cross. I did have fun playing up the sex appeal of Daisy Duke because she’s a woman, she’s a smart woman and she definitely knows how to use her body! [giggles]
Did you learn anything from her?
I took a lot away from the set. I took a lot from Baton Rouge and just being in the Daisy Duke shorts.
How would you say she’s smart?
Um, she was the brains behind getting everybody out of trouble all the time. She would always undo everything that was all wound up.
What was it in your audition that impressed the directors?
My first audition I was very shy. I was really shy. I didn’t nail my first audition. I had to come back. They wanted to screen-test me anyway because it was already in the press that I had the role! That put pressure on me already, it was something that I wanted really bad, but I should have never said it to the press – I should never have said that I wanted the role. But actually, doing that, it – I told myself that you have to get this. When you walk in to do that screen-test, you have to walk in as Daisy Duke. So I went and worked one time with acting coach Larry Moss. He was basically saying, Just do what you’re doing. I was confident – y’know, he has trained a lot of amazing women like Hillary Swank for Million Dollar Baby. I was like, all right! I’m gonna go out there and do what I was doing. And just do what I would do.

This movie reviewer gave the movie 1 star.
The movie treatment of the aw-shucks television series “The Dukes of Hazzard” tries hard to be racist, sexist and homophobic. The film even throws in a bit of animal cruelty, but nobody is offended, threatened or laughing.
Jessica Simpson looks lost on the set. (You can practically hear the director off-screen giving her point-by-point instructions on every scene: “OK, just bend over a little more. Look at the camera. Smile. Perfect.”)
Jessica co-hosted the show on today! Here’s a couple of quotes from her on the show “To play Daisy Duke, I mean, that’s like an iconish … is that a word … iconic figure. I had to do Catherine Bach proud. I was running sprints and doing all kinds of stuff. All I was thinking was bikini, bikini, bikini. It was strange to actually be in the shorts. By the way, I tried on over a hundred pairs!”
Here’s some quotes from Jessica:
“I’m not really into the deep drama roles. I wanted to see myself up on the big screen. When I found out they were making the movie, it was a dream role for me. I wanted people to know that I’m a strong woman. I went after this role as hard as I could. I went straight to the gym. I had to look good in a bikini. When I found out I got the role, I hired a trainer, a dear friend from high school, and trained six days a week for two hours a day. I’m definitely shy. I don’t even walk around in my bathing suit at the beach. So it was definitely acting for me to drop the coat and be in a bikini and try to get my cousins out of trouble by using my body. That was definitely acting. I had to feel comfortable. I had to be proud, had to walk confident. But they didn’t get too short. My butt cheeks were never hanging out. Dolly Parton is my favorite. I love Dolly so much as a woman, as an entertainer, as a personality. I’m such a blonde. It just doesn’t make sense for me to have dark hair. I don’t think people would take me seriously. They take me seriously as a blonde.”

How did Jessica get in shape for the Dukes of Hazzard? She hired an old friend from her high school - Mike Alexander - as her personal trainer.
Jessica trained six days a week doing a lot of squats and lunges, and one hour with weights a day, thirty minutes of cardio a day. She did a lot of bicep curls, 10-pound elbow cable extensions, incline press and shoulder raises.
Alexander lived in a house with Simpson during the three months she was in Baton Rouge last fall shooting Dukes. “I ate every meal with her so I could tell her what to order,” says Alexander, who encouraged Simpson to eat grilled chicken, seared fish, broccoli and asparagus. She avoided bread baskets brought to the table and declined extra sugar for her iced tea.
