Panasonic W4
The Panasonic W4 is a light notebook with a 12.1“ screen and integrated optical (DVD-RW) drive. Famous for the unusual optical drive design (the surface of the chassis opens for a disc), the Panasonic W4 weighs only 2.64 pounds and measures 10.6 x 8.2 x 0.9 ~ 1.7 inches. This latest edition of Panasonic W series is now improved with better graphic card. It utilizes the latest mobile Intel 915GMS Express chipset with 128mb shared VRAM which provides 1.4 times better graphic than the previous model.
Akihabara News reviews the Panasonic W3 and writes - ‘The W4 is a direct competitor of the Fujitsu T75L, which has a nicer design and 40Gb of HDD space for less money, but even with all that in favour of the Fujitsu, the W4 still remains our favourite.’
PC Mag reviews the Panasonic Toughbook W4 and writes - ‘Any seasoned business traveler knows that traveling can take a toll on your laptop; just the repeated jostling and bumping incurred trying to catch your flight and then stowing your luggage can put your system in danger. The Panasonic Toughbook W4 ($2,149) is a tough, thin-and-light ultraportable that’s ready to tackle the road with you.’

Trusted Reviews has posted a review on the Panasonic ToughBook CF-W4 and writes - ‘The Panasonic ToughBook CF-W4 is a great little ultra-portable notebook. The design and build quality are both first rate, while the novelty factor of the hidden optical drive is a bonus. Battery life is staggeringly good and exactly what you want from a machine like this. However, the price is high, the hard disk small and the lack of DVD writer may put some prospective buyers off. If you’re looking for a thin and light machine that can withstand the bashes and knocks of a life on the road, the CF-W4 will suit perfectly, just be prepared to pay for that privilege. That said, if Panasonic could squeeze a touch screen in as well, the price would be easy to swallow.’
CNET Reviews the Panasonic ToughBook W4 and gives it a rating of 6.8 out of 10. They write - ‘Since CNET gave an Editors’ Choice award to the ultraportable Panasonic ToughBook W2 in 2003, Panasonic has renamed the system the W4 and made a few modest enhancements to the laptop. The few case modifications involve adding a handy Wi-Fi on/off switch and a connector for Panasonic’s optional port replicator; otherwise the W4’s design and features are exactly the same as the W2’s.’
