With this highly flexible power management software, the user has the ability to establish and use three(3) preset power usage settings including: “Max Power” for when the maximum system power is required, “Mobile” for when balanced levels of power management and system power are needed, and “Max Mobile” when maximum battery life is required. Tech Report reviews the Sharp M4000 WideNote ultraportable laptop and writes - ‘Now that Intel’s next-generation Centrino platform has arrived with the Core Duo processor and all the rest, the M4000 WideNote’s days are probably numbered. I bought mine because I didn’t want to wait for the Core Duo, and because I’m not all that performance sensitive when it comes to laptops, anyhow. I tend to use the laptop primarily as a terminal for Windows Remote Desktop Connection, so the real computing takes place on the other end of a network connection. For my purposes, these machines are largely about their form, their basic features, their portability, and their battery life. In my view, Sharp has nailed all of these things with the M4000 WideNote, and even with its faults, I like the way this product points toward the future of mobile computing. The bright, wide-aspect screen, full-sized keyboard, sub-four-pound curb weight, and five-hour-plus battery life add up to an incredibly useful machine that requires few compromises to achieve its portability. It also represents astounding progress over the laptops available just few years ago.’
