MP3 Players
Electronic News surveys the MP3 market. Here’s a summary of the article:
- Apple Computer released its iPod MP3 player three years ago.
- There were 2 million iPod MP3 player shipments last quarter, a 500% year-over-year gain.
- The MP3 market is among the top three consumer electronics markets right now.
- Creative, Sony, Dell and Hewlett-Packard all have MP3 players to market now. Motorola will include MP3 capabilities in phones in 2005.
- iTunes claims about 70 percent of music downloads with 1.3 million customers.
Update: The Mac Observer says the article is “error-ridden” and clarifies a few points (none of those were the ones I noted above).
