Motorola i880 Reviews
Infosync reviews the Motorola i880 and writes, “The music player, which uses some of the loudest stereo speakers we’ve heard on a phone, handled MP3 and AAC files, but not our WMA files. A 64MB microSD card was included in the box, supplementing the paltry 20MB on the phone, but no headphones were included. … As a music player, the i880 has two sets of the loudest stereo speakers we’ve heard on a phone, but that doesn’t excuse the lack of included headphones.”
CNET reviews the Motorola i880 and writes, “The simple MP3 player on the i880 is comparable to the i580. Though the interface is completely bare bones, it’s perfectly serviceable for listening to your tunes. You can choose from three color themes, and we like that the external and internal displays show the artist and song name and elapsed time during playback. Features include shuffle and repeat modes and Rock, Pop, Jazz, Classical, and Bass EQ presets. On the downside, it plays tracks only from TransFlash cards, so you can forget about direct-to-device music transfers, let alone over-the-air downloads. We knocked the i580 for not having external music controls, so they’re a welcome touch here.”
DigitalTrends reviews the Motorola i880 and writes, “The i880’s music player is far superior to the camera. Pushing the external “play” button initiates the player without opening up the flap. The external LCD displays all relevant track info. And, as noted, the twin front and inside speakers really blast, although the sound is unsurprisingly akin to a clock radio’s. Rated battery life is misstated on the Sprint Nextel website. In our unscientific tests, the i880 lived nearly an hour past the 4.5 hours of talk time listed on the spec sheet we received from Motorola, far longer than the 2.8 hours stated on the Sprint/Nextel website.”
