Samsung M610

Samsung M610LaptopMag reviews the Samsung M610 and writes, “Like other Sprint Power Vision phones, the M610 can access Sprint TV, the Sprint Music Store, Sprint Radio, Sirius satellite radio, and On Demand content. Audio and video ran smoothly thanks to the Sprint Power Vision Network that provides broadband-like data transfer speeds. We found it disappointing, however, that video clips only filled half of the attractive display. The external display shows music track information, but, unlike the earlier A900M, there are no external music controls.”

CNET reviews the Samsung SPH-M610 and writes about the phone’s music capabilities: “Music quality was decent overall despite being bass-heavy at times. Yet we can’t grasp why all music-centric phones don’t offer stereo speakers. As a result, the volume level is rather low, so we suggest using the included wired stereo headset. In addition, Samsung uses a proprietary plug so you can’t use your own headset unless you have an adapter. Video quality was quite good, the best we’ve seen on a Sprint 3G phone in quite a while. Though the overall picture was small for the display’s overall size, there was little pixilation and voices matched the speakers’ mouths. Also, the video never froze or paused for rebuffering. That said, our eyes grew tired after watching such a small display for too long, and we can’t imagine viewing a full-length film.”

Infosync reviews the Samsung SPH-M610 and talks about the phone’s music and video capabilities: “Music is handled nicely through numerous streaming channels, including 20 channels of Sirius satellite radio. Sprint’s music store downloaded tracks quickly from their admirably deep library of available tunes, but these tracks are not playable on your PC, and the included music player can only handle purchased files or MP3s, not WMA files. Finally, like all phones we have seen with A2DP support, the Samsung M610 cannot transfer audio from streaming channels to stereo Bluetooth headphones. This includes audio from video clips and even purchased movies. Because the phone uses the same port for charging and wired headphones, this means you may not finish a streaming movie before the battery runs out, unless you’re listening on the phone’s small speaker.”

PCMag reviews the Samsung M610 and writes, “The phone plays both MP3s and songs bought from the Sprint Music Store over wired or Bluetooth headsets, though there are no external music control buttons to use when the flip is closed. The M610 also runs a wide range of Java applications, including Melodeo’s Mobilcast podcasting app, the Opera Mini 3.0 Web browser, and NFL Mobile. You can also hook the M610 up to your PC as a Bluetooth or wired modem, to access the Internet using Sprint’s EV-DO Rev 0 network.”
