Samsung SCH-U520

Samsung SCH-U520CNET reviews the Samsung SCH-U520 and writes, “The SCH-U520 comes with a basic digital music player for your audio needs. Though it offers just the simplest features and sports a minimalist interface, it’s perfectly serviceable for shorts stints. And there’s an airplane mode for turning off the phone’s calling feature during air travel. On the downside, it’s bothersome that it will only play tracks from the microSD card. Other multimedia features include Alltel’s Axcess TV and support for XM Satellite Radio.” Read more…

Motorazr V3xx

Motorazr V3xx3G reviews the Motorazr V3xx and writes, “Music? But of course, and the quality is pretty good though a headset. Which is just as well, actually, because the headset fitting is Motorola standard mini-USB style rather than good old 3.5mm jack, so using a pair of headphones you like a lot is probably going to present a challenge. There is 50MB of internal memory for storing tunes, and the player can cope with AAC, MP3 and WMA file formats. If you need more storage space, fret not, because there is a microSD card slot under the battery cover. You may want to start fretting, though, if you need a mobile that will play music back to you hour after hour, because when we tested it for this capability we got just over four hours from a full charge.”

BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Review - PCAuthority

BlackBerry Pearl 8100PCAuthority reviews the BlackBerry Pearl and writes, “The media player also smacks of being a first effort thanks to limited software controls and support for just MP3, MIDI files and AAC. Placing the MicroSD card slot behind the battery isn’t a great move either. Battery life is good — using the phone every day for calls, SMS, email and Web browsing saw just under five days’ use.”

Nokia 6288

Nokia 6288OSNews reviews the Nokia 6288 and writes, “The music player can playback mp3, eAAC+ and AAC, but not WMA. The S40 devices have a “premium” music application that supports playlists and sorting via various ways (found in the 7390 and 5300/5200 models), but the 6288 comes with the basic music player. All songs are sorted by filename and they are played one after another. You can do previous/next and fast forward and change the equalizer to 6-7 presets, but that’s about it. However, the phone supports A2DP and so you can use a stereo wireless headset. More over, the handsfree that comes with the phone is top notch. Good build quality, good sound quality, 3 buttons, but most importantly, this is the only earphones that actually… fit in my ears! All others I have ever tried just fall off.”

Samsung BlackJack Review - Newsfactor

Samsung i607 BlackjackNewsfactor reviews the Samsung BlackJack and writes, “I had a problem with the BlackJack’s circular, four-way directional toggle, which is located in the middle of the phone between the call and end-call buttons. As I was browsing the Internet, I would accidentally hit the end-call button, sending me back to the home screen. Fortunately, the BlackJack has a thumbwheel on the right side that allows for more efficient browsing and navigation. … The 3G network gives users the ability not only to surf the Web but to access Cingular’s video and music services.”

T-Mobile Sidekick 3 Review - Trusted Reviews

T-Mobile Sidekick 3Trusted Reviews reviews the T-Mobile Sidekick 3 and writes, “The Sidekick has an MP3 player built-in and a stereo headset is supplied. Previous Sidekicks didn’t feture one, so this is a step forward. However, it is not as large as step as it could have been. Tracks play from a miniSD card with the slot located under the battery cover. Sound quality and volume is reasonable, but the connector is 2.5mm so you’ll need an adaptor to 3.5mm to replace the in-ear buds with your own favourite headset. Most annoying of all, the player only handles files in MP3 format, nothing else.”

Nokia N70 Music Edition

nokia-n70PCAuthority reviews the Nokia N70 and writes, “The consumer touches it does have, such as a cover for the two megapixel camera, the improved music player and included one gigabyte MiniSD card are welcome. Removing features like from the phone make the menu system lighter and much easier to navigate. It’s still slow to react and the 176 x 208 screen doesn’t render the screen as well as the higher end models that we have seen recently.”

Cingular 8525 Review - MobileBurn

Cingular 8525MobileBurn reviews the Cingular 8525 and writes, “As is the case with all Windows Mobile 5 devices, music and video playback on the 8525 is handled by the Windows Media Player (WMP) application. While the WMP app does a good job of actually playing back music and videos, its lack of on-board playlist creation and overall poor organizational skills when it comes to music files copied directly over to a memory card annoys me to no end. If a user wishes to create playlists, they have to be created on a desktop PC’s copy of Windows Media Player and synchronized over to the 8525.”

Palm Treo 750 Review - CNET

Palm Treo 750CNET reviews the Palm Treo 750 and writes, “Windows Media Player 10 Mobile is onboard, so you can listen to your favorite MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC, and AMR music files; you also get album art, and WMP 10 Mobile is compatible with all PlaysForSure online stores. The smart phone can handle MPEG-4 video streaming, and if you have TV shows recorded on your Media Center PC, you can transfer them to your device for on-the-go viewing. It also works with Slingbox. Unfortunately, the Treo 750 will not work with Cingular Music and Cingular Video at this time.”
