PARIS HILTON’s mother KATHY has proved less than hot for American TV viewers - only 6.8 million tuning in to watch the debut of her reality show on Tuesday night (21JUN05).

I WANT TO BE A HILTON takes 14 aspiring socialites and puts them through an etiquette boot camp as they compete for $200,000 (GBP111,000) and a posh Manhattan home.

As well as audiences being reluctant to tune in, critics were less than kind to the show, with a number giving it scathing reviews.

When Paris Hilton and former pal NICOLE RICHIE’s reality show THE SIMPLE LIFE debuted in 2003, it drew a far more impressive 13.1 million viewers.
