Paris’ Burger Site Melts Down
‘Call it sexy, silly, or salacious, but it’s tough to call it clever marketing when a web site succumbs to its own success.
That’s what happened to CKE Restaurants when it hired billionheiress Paris Hilton to wash a Bentley in a skimpy leather bathing suit while binging on a spicy barbecue burger.
The resulting orgy of hose, suds, music, and lunch-munching hotel heiress drove throngs of soft-porn lovers to spicyparis.com.
One problem: the super-heated site melted down for four hours, leaving would-be burger buyers hungry and somewhat frustrated.
You’d think a company that spent so freely to promote a hamburger would have the foresight to build a beefier site.’
