Japan’s DoCoMo has released the new hybrid FOMA/3G-PDA M1000 Motorola smartphone. The handset features global roaming tri-band system (W-CDMA, GSM and GPRS), full Internet browsing, PC mail and 80211.b WiFi.

More PDA than phone, it features a bright, 2.9-inch touch screen where you can access Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs as well as PDF files, and allows multiple email functions including POP and IMAP email. Opera’s 7.5 browser is used for Internet access.

Will this PDA phone be released in your part of the world? For now, the Japanese market will be first but we hope to see this Motorola M1000 available elsewhere soon. Be sure to see the video presentation of this impressive device on the Wireless Watch Japan site.
