Pope Too Frail For Blessing Ceremony

‘Pope John Paul II has surprised worshippers by appearing at his hospital window as the Sunday blessing was read for him.
Appearing in a wheelchair, the Pope did not speak but performed the Sunday Angelus blessing from the Rome hospital where he is staying.
It was just a brief appearance but will raise hopes the Pontiff is on the road to recovery after an operation to help his breathing last week.
The Vatican had said the Pope would not appear for Sunday prayers.
An aide delivered the address - it was the first time in his 26-year papacy the Pontiff has not delivered the address personally - and when the Pope appeared at the window he began pointing at his throat.’
