Riverside adds da Vinci robotic aid for surgeries
‘Dr. Wayne Poll is no slave to technology, even when it comes to Riverside Methodist Hospital’s new da Vinci robotic surgical system, which he holds in high regard.
The da Vinci robot may be a useful tool in certain surgeries, he said, but the decision-making and surgical movements remain under the control of the doctor in charge of the procedure.
“It’s completely a master-slave technology,” Poll said.
And in his mind, surgeons are definitely the masters in this relationship.’
