Hitwise Traffic For Satellite Radio Searches
Internet statistic analysis and tracking company Hitwise has reported that in the week ending December 17th, 2005 that searches containing the word “SIRIUS” were up 78 percent compared to the week before Thanksgiving (The week ending November 19) while the share of searches containing “XM” were only up 13 percent over the same period.
Visits to both official websites of SIRIUS Satellite Radio and XM Radio were up significantly as well with Sirius up 99 percent while XM increased 62 percent for the week ending December 17 when compared against the week ending December 18, 2004.
This increase in traffic, particularly for SIRIUS, is believed to be related to the surge in interest bought about by the soon arrival of controversial disc jockey Howard Stern to Sirius in January.
