Katie Holmes has dismissed rumours that she is desperate to marry Tom Cruise before she gives birth to their child next year, reports IMDb.com.

Holmes (26), who accepted Cruise’s marriage proposal on 17 June, insists she has no intention of walking down the aisle while she is still pregnant â€” because she wants to look her best for her wedding day.

“All these rumours that we’re getting married this week or next, they’re just not true. I won’t be waddling into my wedding with a big bump,” said Holmes.

British movie fans have voted Tom Cruise to be the most irritating actor in Hollywood this year in Empire magazine’s poll of 10,000 people. On the other hand, they voted him to be the great movie star of all time. Go figure!

Might have something to do with his scientology? Or his sickly-sweet romance with Katie?

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are planning an Independence Day weekend wedding if changes to their marriage registry list at department store Neiman Marcus are to be believed.

The couple, listed as Katherine Holmes and Thomas Mapotherâ€”Cruise’s birth name, are only asking for Neiman Marcus gift cards at this stage, but they have set the date for July 7â€”four days after the War of the Worlds star’s 44th birthday.

Cruise’s newly appointed publicist, Paul Bloch, is refusing to confirm or deny the latest development, giving a firm “no comment” to all inquiries.

Cruise proposed to Holmes at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, in June and recently told TV host Barbara Walters he was planning to exchange vows with his fiancÃ©e next summer or autumn.

Details of the couple’s wedding are being kept a closely guarded secret.

Tom Cruise is at the centre of a fresh medical row with experts expressing concern over his purchase of a sonogram machine to perform at-home scans on expectant fiancee Katie Holmes.

Cruise told US television interviewer Barbara Walters last month that he had bought an ultrasound machine to peek at the foetus of his unborn baby with the Batman Begins actress who he has been dating since April.

“This is a patient safety issue. Untrained people, even if they have the financial means, should not buy, or be allowed to buy and operate, ultrasound machines which are, in fact, medical devices and should not be used without a medical indication,” said Dr Carol Rumack of the ACR’s Ultrasound Commission.
