Gizmo offers 1 cent per minute calls to the US

A while ago, I tried out the Gizmo Project, an alternative to Skype. It was still in beta and it didn’t grab me like Skype did. Now they’re offering a really great, competitive call price to US phones which is about half the cost it is via Skype or Yahoo: 1 cent per minute!

Gizmo Project is free software for your computer that allows you to make and receive phone calls. Anyone can download the software here and call the world for free using their computer and a headset. Calls between Gizmo Project users are completely free, but calls to regular phones have a small per minute fee.

Since its debut in July 2005, Gizmo Project has had over 300,000 sign-ups and is available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

Gizmo Project members can purchase calling minutes on a “pay-as-you-go” basis with a credit card or using Paypal. There is no cost to sign-up, no contracts, and no monthly fees.

Gizmo Project is the most feature rich software available for voice calling and includes many advanced calling and communication features: free voicemail, free conference calling between regular phones and Gizmo Project, call recording, call forwarding, instant messaging, call mapping, call hold, and call blocking.

I just might be giving Gizmo another try soon!
