Synergy Research Group and Infonetics Research have reported that Sonus is leading Japan’s migration to VoIP with key customer deployments throughout the telecommunications, cable, Internet Service Provider, and wireless industries.

“Sonus’ leadership position in the rapidly growing Japanese market is a testament to the Company’s vision, our ability to execute, and our commitment to this important region of the world,” said Hassan Ahmed, chairman and CEO, Sonus Networks. “Asia-Pacific has been one of the first regions to embrace the benefits of VoIP and harness the power of these technologies to deliver innovative services to consumers, and Japan in particular has accelerated its migration to an all-IP infrastructure. As a company, we are dedicated to ensuring our customers’ success as they extend their service capabilities in Japan and throughout Asia-Pacific.”

A recent report entitled “Q3 2005 Service Provider VoIP Japan Market Shares,” issued by Synergy Research Group, reveals that based on revenue Sonus is the clear leader in the carrier VoIP market in Japan with total media gateway market share of 61.1% and dominates the high density media gateway industry with 81.1% of the total market.

“Sonus’ performance in Japan is truly impressive,” said Jeremy Duke, president and CEO, Synergy Research Group. “Sonus’ first mover advantage, sophisticated field-tested technology, strategic partnerships, and the expertise of its professional services team have earned Sonus a highly respected position in the Japanese market and this is reflected in their substantial market share position.”

Infonetics Research also released its third quarter market share analysis, which shows Sonus substantially increasing its market share in the total Asia-Pacific region due to its success in Japan. Infonetics named Sonus as the market share leader in both the total carrier-class media gateway and high density gateway revenue.

“Sonus has an enviable position of being firmly entrenched in Japan’s VoIP industry, particularly in the Voice over Broadband (VoBB) market,” said Teresa Mastrangelo, analyst broadbandtrends.com. “With nearly 10 million subscribers, Japan continues to lead the world in VoBB subscribers, and shows no sign of slowing down. IVE - Instant Video Everywhere

For the first time ever, children and the child at heart looking to give Santa their Christmas list will have to go no further than their own home computer to see and talk with Santa live at the ‘North Pole.’

IVE (pronounced ‘ivy’), or Instant Video Everywhere, turns any Windows based PC into a free video and voice phone. Santa will be using IVE to personally answer calls live from 3pm to 10pm EST on December 21st and 22nd. However, even when Santa is busy making toys, checking lists twice and feeding his reindeer, callers will be able to leave their own personal video message with their Christmas wishes on his IVE Video Call Mailbox. As part of the IVE service, Santa will be checking his Video Call Mailbox and sending a special video greeting when he returns back home. Santa’s Video Call Mailbox will be available 24×7 from December 19th through December 23rd.

To download IVE and become a registered user, simply visit www.sonyive.com. The download is free and callers will be up and running to reach Santa over video - or be able to call other friends and family members on IVE anywhere in the world - for absolutely no charge. To place a video or audio call directly to Santa, users simply have to type the name “SANTA” using their keyboard and place the call - or click on the name “SANTA” which will be automatically included in their IVE Contact List.

“Santa will be using IVE to make sure that he can see and hear from children and the young at heart from around the world, even though he is so busy at the North Pole just days before Christmas,” said Stuart Gold, VP Marketing at GlowPoint. “It’s so simple to use IVE — anybody can do it. And even better, no one will have to wait in long lines at the mall this season with their kids to see and speak with Santa. What a great gift for everyone this holiday season.”

CloudSentry VoIP Services Assessment

CloudSentry VoIP Services Assessment (CloudSentry VSA), enables service providers to optimize the VoIP user experience by providing comprehensive VoIP traffic analysis including a VoIP services assessment, VoIP infrastructure vulnerabilities and intrusion detection, and VoIP lawful intercept capabilities.

CloudSentry VoIP Services Assessment is designed to deliver valuable intelligence to service providers in a short period of time, and with minimum disruption and cost. The key service deliverable is the Services Findings Report which organizes and analyzes network traffic data to provide insights into the following VoIP traffic areas:

– VoIP services assessment through careful real-time DPI analysis of network traffic. Utilizing the CloudShield CS-2000 In-Network Computing(TM) platform, the CloudSentry VSA classifies all accessible service provider VoIP traffic to thoroughly profile existing voice services. With non-sampling resolution, customers receive detailed service identification for all VoIP traffic, network utilization and voice protocol distribution analysis, end-user usage patterns, and top user reports. CloudSentry VSA includes collection and analysis of traffic from the service provider network, and delivers a structured report together on current VoIP traffic condition, with recommendations on how the service provider can improve the VoIP user’s experience.

– VoIP infrastructure vulnerabilities and intrusion detection to reveal the challenges VoIP services pose for service providers as voice and data worlds converge. CloudSentry VSA monitors a comprehensive set of VoIP service infrastructure attacks to report on denial of service attempts, voice protocol compliance violations, and behavioral anomalies that are outside the capabilities of most intrusion prevention systems deployed today on service provider networks. The resulting report provides extensive information on how service provider can improve the security of their VoIP traffic.

– VoIP Lawful Intercept capabilities through the monitoring and reporting of Call Identification Information (CII). CloudSentry VSA reports call source and destination information including phone number, IP Address, or login name. CloudSentry VSA also reports time and duration of calls for the service provider’s own VoIP traffic services as well as for the non-facilities VoIP services traversing the network. This information enables service providers to meet obligations for lawful interception of VoIP traffic.

CloudSentry VSA will be available from CloudShield and select CloudShield partners beginning in January 2006. Service pricing will start at $40,000 per engagement.

More information about CloudShield can be found at www.cloudshield.com.
