DM256 WiMAX Chip Available
Wavesat has announced the general availability of the world’s first WiMAX chip, the DM256.
After extensive testing of the DM256 during the past month, Wavesat has delivered chips to many System (OEMs) and Original Device Manufacturers (ODMs). Based on these performance tests, Wavesat can now make the DM256 chips generally available and ramp up to mass production to satisfy customer demands.
Partnering with Wavesat gives System Manufacturers an opportunity to be first to market with WiMAX compliant systems. Some of those customers are: AirRunner Technologies (USA); Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) (India); Guangzhou Coast Communications Co., Ltd. (China); Hangcom Technology (China), a joint venture company of Arescom Inc. and Shanghai Research Centre for Wireless Technologies; INTRACOM S.A. (Greece); Midikon Communications Limited (Russia); Murandi Communications Ltd. (Canada); nex-G Systems Pte Ltd (Singapore); Trango Broadband Wireless (USA); Tsinghua University, Beijing (China); VCom Inc. (Canada); WaveIP Ltd. (Israel); and WaveRider Communications Inc. (Canada).
Wavesat offers a complete solution in the form of a reference kit, which includes baseband, MAC and RF modules for both Base Station and Subscriber units. Wavesat’s CTO and V.P. Engineering Pierre Lamoureux says: “This Reference Kit helps our customers substantially accelerate their time to market.”
